Picture in your mind an old barn out in the country. Can you see it leaning to one side and the roof caving in? You can look right through it, as the walls have mostly rotted away. There is a very faded logo barely perceptible on the side, and the grass and weeds higher than ever.
At one time, that barn was brand new. It was built solid, stood strong, was used confidently for years, and no one would ever have envisioned what it is today. What happened? In one word—neglect. Its current condition was not inevitable. It could have been avoided. But without regular and proper attention and maintenance, it could not stand forever.
Can I ask you how your faith is doing? Did your faith once look like that new barn, but now it resembles that old barn? Is your faith not as strong and dependable and used as it once was? What changed? No matter the condition of your faith, may I encourage you to “add to your faith” (2 Pet. 1:5), to grow your faith (2 Thess. 1:3), to “establish” your faith (1 Thess. 3:2), and to live your faith (Jas. 2:18), that others may see and “know your faith” (1 Thess. 3:5).
